CEEI Valencia participates in the closing event of Decartherm and explores synergies to promote climate neutrality

CEEI Valencia, representing the CO2 Pacman project, attended this morning the closing event of the Decartherm project. Led by the Energy Technological Institute (ITE), Decartherm has been working on the decarbonization of thermal systems through advanced thermal storage technologies applied to industrial and building sectors. The methodology developed allows for the sizing of thermal storage systems and assesses their economic and environmental viability. This system adapts to different scenarios, optimizing energy efficiency and applying intelligent management strategies to maximize energy balance and minimize environmental impact.

The CO2 Pacman project, for its part, aims to accelerate the transition toward climate neutrality in Mediterranean islands. Through carbon footprint assessment tools and participatory co-creation labs (“Rooting Labs”), CO2 Pacman engages authorities, citizens, and businesses in developing sustainable solutions that reduce CO2 emissions in key sectors such as energy, mobility, waste management, and tourism. The project's pilot activities are being developed on islands like Crete, Brac, and Elba, with the goal of generating roadmaps that can be replicated in other island territories.

Participation in the closing of Decartherm opens interesting collaboration opportunities between both projects. The smart thermal storage solutions developed by Decartherm could be complemented by CO2 Pacman’s assessment systems to offer carbon reduction alternatives in industrial and service sectors, tailored to the environment and needs of each island. This collaboration could strengthen the application of hybrid technologies that integrate thermal storage and carbon footprint reduction strategies in the Mediterranean.

By sharing knowledge and exploring synergies, CO2 Pacman and Decartherm are advancing toward a greener and more resilient Mediterranean, where technological innovation and transnational cooperation are key to facing the challenges of climate change.
